Around New South Wales in 12 days – Hunter New England Part 2: Tamworth

In last week’s instalment of ICE Group’s Director Margaret Cox’s trip to Australia, she visited two locations in the south of Hunter New England (HNE), Newcastle and Maitland. To check out that blog and learn more about HNE as a whole CLICK HERE

Following her stay in these two metropolitan areas of HNE, Margaret headed north to Tamworth, which is one of the key regional cities outside of the Newcastle Metro area.

Tamworth

Situated a beautiful 5-hour drive or short 1-hour flight from Sydney in the heart of New England. Tamworth is a delightful blend of heritage, outdoor adventures, culture, music, sports and more. Home to the largest and longest country music festival in the Southern Hemisphere. Tamworth also boasts exceptional food, wine, and year-round sporting entertainment. Venturing beyond the city centre reveals additional adventures, with national parks, boating, fishing, water sports, horse riding, and much more on offer.

While in Tamworth, Margaret met with Michelle Keir (Director of Nursing and Midwifery) and her wonderful Team at Tamworth Hospital. “Everyone was so welcoming, it was really a multicultural environment, highly professional and focussed on delivering the best care possible to the area. And – my bonus was I was there at the start of the Country Music Festival, it was a really special event, and so much fun” said Margaret.

Tamworth Hospital
