Job Description

Micro-media Content Developer 

  • The post holder will work closely with administrative and academic staff to develop a suite of micro-credentials for external partners by providing hands-on support in the design and production of interactive learning materials such as video, audio and multi-media content.   The Multi-media Content Developer will work collaboratively with the MC2 project team including the MC2 Project Lead, the CPD Development Officer, the MC2 Business Analyst, academic staff and subject specialists.

 Main Responsibilities/Competencies of the Role

  • Provide hands-on production support to academic and administrative staff in the design and development of interactive multi-media materials suitable for use in micro-credentials;
  • Produce, edit and convert digital media resources such as video, podcasts, screencasts, interviews, and lecture recordings for delivery in a micro-credential;
  • Project-manage individual micro-credentials from design specification and storyboarding, to production of materials through to final online delivery;
  • Design and develop writing templates, sets of checklists/forms, project management tools and other training materials as required to support the production of micro-credentials for effective e-learning programme design;


  • Knowledge of technology enhanced learning in course design and development;
  • Significant experience in the design and production of e-learning courses;
  • Demonstrable experience of working with a range of up-to-date, industry-recognised editing and production tools for blended and online learning, including VLE/LMS; Audio, video, image and web editing tools such as (but not limited to) Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Premier); Authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate and Articulate 360;  Screen-casting tools such as Kaltura or Camtasia, and their application to teaching and learning;
  • Significant prior experience in the use of media platforms for the distribution of multimedia content; 
  • Demonstrated understanding of blended and online learning methodologies;
  • Knowledge of adaptive learning platforms;
