AHPRA have updated their factsheet on the new assessment model for Internationally Qualified Nurses and Midwives (IQNM’s)
From last Friday (21/02/2020) AGOS-40 application forms posted to AHPRA will not be accepted. All applications are made online. IQNM’s must provide their qualifications and other details through the online Self-check process. This will be made available from March 2020.
Self-Check (on-line)
There is no fee to use the Self-Check. If you are advised to proceed after completing the Self-Check you will need to pay $640 AUD (non-refundable). If you are deemed eligible and meet the required registration standards a further application ($300 AUD) and registration fee ($175 AUD) will be applied. Therefore, the total cost for AHPRA Registration is $1,115 AUD. Remember this is only if you meet all the requirements.
Orientation Program
All IQNM’s who proceed with the AHPRA assessment process will need to complete a two-part orientation program. The first part is the completion of an on-line learning course which introduces IQNM’s to Australia and the Australian Healthcare systems. The second part is a more in-depth introduction and includes information on diversity within Australia’s culture. This part is also online and has to be completed at registration. There is also an expectation that all IQNM’s will complete hospital-specific induction /orientation programs.
Referral to OBA
If after completing the AHPRA assessment you are identified as holding relevant but not substantially equivalent qualifications (and you meet the mandatory registration standards) you will be referred to the OBA process. More information can be found on qualifications likely to meet the accreditation requirements
The OBA is a two-stage assessment process
