Overview
The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for the set-up, installation, maintenance and support of automated equipment ensuring optimum performance and the achievement of operational goals. The Equipment Maintenance Technician works closely with teams to resolve manufacturing issues and constraints while implementing safe and robust solutions to improve overall efficiency through improvement projects around run rate increase, cycle time gains, yields and quality.
Shift Pattern Thursday, Friday , Saturday and every second Sunday 8 AM – 8 PM
Duties and Responsibilities
- Repair and troubleshoot electronic/mechanical equipment failures.
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance procedures.
- Helps move, install, set-up and refurbish equipment.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date maintenance documentation.
- Record downtime issues and resolutions in appropriate databases.
- Coordinate with other departments as required to organise equipment repairs.
- Work proactively to ensure performance targets are met; Yield/quality (using SPC/SQC)/production outs/up-time /process stability.
- Communicate potential issues that may affect capacity and quality to the Business Unit Team Leader as well as across production zones where necessary.
- Attend pass-downs as required and provides status updates.
- Provide detailed inputs into failed spare parts management process.
- Supports Process Engineers to ensure Continuous Improvements are implemented and regular.
- Train and assist other Technicians and Operators.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of the setup, operation, and maintenance of specific equipment sets used in manufacturing processes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- High level of technical ability, with hands on approach to solving technical issues.
- Good interpersonal and team work skills
- Commitment to manufacturing excellence.
- Flexibility depending on business needs
- Ability to work individually and in a high pressure high stake environment
- Resourceful, hands-on, enjoys a challenge.
Qualifications / Experience
- 2-4 years experience as a technician in a high volume automated environment
- Min Cert/Diploma/Senior Trades in Mechanical/Electrical/ Industrial engineering
- Knowledge of PLCs, Motor Drives, pneumatic and hydraulic components is advantageous
