IT Manager-6 month contract
Location: Shannon, Co. Clare
Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer
Type: Full-time, On-Site
Overview
This role is focused on operational leadership, team management and service continuity rather than executive technology strategy. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing IT team, business leaders, external technology partners and the ERP Programme Director to ensure technology services remain stable, responsive and aligned to business priorities.
We are looking for an energetic and hands-on manager who enjoys working with people, building relationships and driving actions through to completion. This role would suit someone with a strong IT background who has progressed into team leadership and is looking to take ownership of a business-critical function without necessarily being a CIO, CTO or IT Director.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & People Management
- Lead, support and develop the local IT team.
- Provide day-to-day direction, prioritisation and workload management.
- Build strong relationships across the business and become a trusted point of contact for operational technology matters.
- Work effectively within a trade union environment, demonstrating diplomacy, professionalism and strong communication skills.
- Foster teamwork between internal staff and external technology providers.
Service Delivery & Operations
- Ensure continuity of IT services across the organisation.
- Oversee incident management, problem resolution and operational escalations.
- Monitor service performance and ensure issues are tracked through to resolution.
- Coordinate activities between internal IT resources and third-party suppliers.
- Drive a culture of ownership, responsiveness and service excellence.
Planning & Coordination
- Maintain and manage the IT action plan and priority list.
- Track deliverables, risks, dependencies and outstanding actions.
- Facilitate regular operational review meetings and follow-up actions.
- Support planning activities associated with the ERP programme and wider business initiatives.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary operational liaison with technology vendors and service providers.
- Ensure supplier activities are aligned with business priorities.
- Maintain strong working relationships with senior management and department heads.
- Escalate risks, issues and resource constraints where appropriate.
Technical Oversight
While this is predominantly a leadership role, the successful candidate must possess sufficient technical capability to:
- Understand core infrastructure and business systems.
- Challenge and guide technical decisions where appropriate.
- Coordinate troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.
- Work alongside technical specialists and partners.
- Ensure technology environments remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose.
Experience & Skills Required Essential
- 5+ years’ experience in IT operations, infrastructure or service delivery roles.
- Previous experience leading or supervising an IT team.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise and drive execution.
- Experience managing third-party technology providers.
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong action planning, follow-through and organisational capability.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving operational environment.
