Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Payroll Manager to lead and develop our payroll team, enhance our service offering, and ensure exceptional client experience. This role is pivotal in supporting our growth strategy as we scale operations and expand our client base.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a growing payroll team to ensure high performance and engagement.
  • Implement training programs and career development plans for team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and client-focused culture within the team.

Service Delivery & Process Improvement

  • Owner end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Develop and refine payroll processes, systems, and controls to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Own the relationship and customer success of the payroll clients
  • Attend client meetings to understand needs, resolve queries, and provide expert payroll advice.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring service excellence and identifying opportunities for additional value.
  • Support onboarding of new clients and manage transitions smoothly.

Strategic Contribution

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape and expand the payroll service offering.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives by providing technical expertise during proposals and pitches.
  • Monitor industry trends and recommend innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in payroll management, ideally within a multi-client or bureau environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practices.
  • Assist in marketing and promotion activities including participating in expert panels, webinars, etc.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with a track record of team development.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with cloud-based systems is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Professional payroll qualification (e.g. IPASS or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
