Job Description

We are now hiring for a Procurements and Contracts Specialist - Maternity Leave Cover based in Galway. 

Job Details

  • To provide the Unit with a comprehensive and professional Procurement and Contracts Management Service. 

  • Provide advice and support to various managers and units concerning procurement and contracts. 

  • Manage and support all stages of Procurement Competitions, primarily focused on National Tenders with some work on EU Tenders, in conjunction with the relevant University unit. 

  • Review and finalise standard legal agreements as part of the procurement process, and consider minor amendments as necessary.

  • Audit and verify procurement processes and relevant documentation and support the PCO in relation to audits. 

  • Managing and maintaining systems i.e. Accord, Core, Agresso.

Skills Required 

  • 2 years procurement experience in a role or capacity comparable and relevant to this post. 

  • Experience in managing a procurement process through all stages in a public procurement environment. 

  • Experience in reviewing legal agreements, interpreting and identifying issues for escalation. 

  • Excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good numeracy skills, and ability to analyse data.

  • Demonstrate the ability to plan, manage and organise own workload in an effective manner within strict deadlines. 

  • Ability to review and interpret procurement legislation, guidance and circulars quickly and apply them in different situations. 

  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse various courses of action and provide advice to stakeholders. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good numeracy skills, and ability to analyse data.

  • Demonstrate ability to work in line with relevant policies and procedures and regulations. 

  • Ability to build both internal and external relationships and influence outcomes.

Applicants must also be comfortable in engaging with and challenging the public, stakeholders, internal staff, tenderers and suppliers in relation to all aspects of the procurement and contracting process.
